I would also write "Hold for (artist)" on the outside of the envelope. You could also call the venue ahead of time to make sure they hold fan mail for their artists.

Hi EhSs01! It usually depends on who I'm writing to. If it's a "fan e-mail" that the band has set up, I'll address the e-mail directly to them. However, if I'm contacting them through their managers e-mail than I address it to the manager and ask how I can go about getting an autograph. Us...

Hi Daniel, An IRC would be better. It would be more hassle with the British pounds just because they would have to go to the bank and trade them for US money and then go purchase stamps. An IRC they could directly go to the post office and get the stamps. When you go to the post office explain what ...

I think sometimes (like everyone has said) they just slip through the system. I've gotten a lot of things back from California uncancelled, but then I've gotten replies back from New York where the entire top part of the envelope from one end to the other was blacked out (I guess to guarantee that t...

Hi Heyheyyou! I know it's frustrating, but what you have to remember is that sometimes artists are just really, really busy. Sometimes they don't get into a city until 5 or 6AM and have to be up to do press stuff at 1 or 2PM, sound check after that and then meet and greet with fans before the actual...

Since there seems to be a lot of questions concerning IRC's at the moment... please remember to check the sticky "Where can I buy IRCs, US Stamps?" (http://fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic.php?f=117&t=14171) A lot of your questions may be already answered. If you're still unclear about IRC...

Hi Beau! I've heard of people having luck getting IRC's by calling the customer service line for USPS (http://www.usps.com/customerservice/welcome.htm?from=home_header&page=CustomerService). I've never done it myself, so I don't know if they even do this (but doesn't hurt in asking). My post off...

Hi NiNaTheDreamer! Your post office should have told you, unless you just asked to purchase one IRC. I don't think one will be enough. You probably needed to send at least two. Next time, I would ask the post office how many IRC's should you send so that person can reply to you. I've even gone as fa...

A little less then a month ago I had received a success from Marnie Schulenburg. I had sent her a custom card which she didn't return with the initial success and so I thought that was the end of that. Today I received my custom card in the mail from her with a personal, hand written letter thanking...

I actually write men and women kind of equally, maybe I've sent a few more letters to men then women, and I've noticed that I seem to get more personalization from men back. I've also only received hand written thank you letters from men.

Hi packrat! I would suggest writing each one individually. I think you'd have a better chance of getting some replies that way. You could try the entire cast, but sometimes all you'll get back is a cast pp unless you write to each one individually. If you decide to send to the entire cast at a show ...

THANK YOU! That clears up so much. I guess my last question would be, how much is postage for this kind of thing? I'm shipping everything in USA so would I need any more than two standard stamps on the first letter and more than one on the SASE? The post office is quite a ways away so I'd rather bu...

You are right, but he's not the one (or hopefully) not the one selling them. lol. However, the rules are why he doesn't send them out TTM. I'm sure if he could, he would.
