I'd respectfully disagree with that. Why would we read something which we find poorly written? (I'm assuming that's why Crazy_Kiss_Fan disliked it, if she finds the films marginally better). You may like the story, and more power to you for it, but I myself find Meyer's writing style to be excrutiatingly painful. I wouldnt sit through more than 2 chapters in the hope it got better.

Crazy_Kiss_Fan. wrote:Harry Potter all the way. I read the first Twilight book when it came out and after reading two chapters I took it back to Wal Mart. I couldn't stand the book. Harry Potter is way better. I bought HP7 and finished it in a week and read it again a month later ;) J.K. is just amazing even the movies rock! Whereas with Twilight, I have to say the movies are a little better, but I still don't like it.

Harry Potter, hands down.

I started reading HP in 1999, and I was hooked from the very start. I loved the plot, the characters, the detailed world Rowling created, everything. I was constantly rereading the books, always picking up on new clues to try to piece together theories, and still I was blown away by Deathly Hallows (which I got at midnight, finished in 12 hours, and was sobbing by the end).

I picked up Twilight a couple summers ago after hearing some good things about it online, but was bored throughout most of it, just waiting for something to happen. I thought the second book was a bit better, mostly because there was less Edward, who I was never impressed with. I basically finished the series just to see how it ended, and so I could form an opinion on the series as a whole, but they're not books I'll ever read again. Poorly written, the characters aren't very well developed, and I just couldn't really care about the plot.

Definitely Twilight. I can't ignore those sparkling vampires.
