Marty Whelan is one of Ireland's most listened to radio stars. After a successful stint with local radio in Dublin, he joined Ireland's RTÉ in 1980. His first line of work with the station was hosting a show on it's fledgling pop music channel Radio 2. He later made the smooth transition to TV, but in 1989 after hosting the first season of a popular Sunday night gameshow called 'Where In The World?', he later joined Century Radio and hosted it's first ever show. He worked as the main host of it's breakfast show from then on until the station's closure in 1991. After that he returned to RTÉ and remained active in TV work. He currently hosts the morning programme on the classical music station Lyric FM.
