The drinking age in my state is 21. I think it should be 18.

If you're old enough to vote, drive, join the military, get yourself into a serious amount of financial debt and be held accountable for crimes you commit at 18 years of age, you're old enough to drink IMO.

Capt. Chaos wrote:18 was the drinking age back in my day. Raising it to 21 was ridiculous however if they want to keep it at 21 there should be a law in place that if your in the military you should be allowed to drink regardless of your age. You can fight and die for your country but can't have a beer.
My mom has been saying this all along. I do know that some places people in the military can drink at 18 but don't remember where lol. I think if your smoke at 18 you should be able to drink also but can kill you. But even if they lowered the age it wouldn't matter to me I'm 23 lol....

Drinking age is 19 in canada and it works just fine and i think they should make it 18 in the u.s. or at least 19 like here because if you can go and fight and die for your country at age 18 and are considered a legal adult you should be able to have a beer... Its kind of funny when you think about it that you can do anything at age 18 even die for your country but you cant have a drink haha I just realized how old this original posting was lol

You may not accept it and call me stupid but as a matter of fact there are many brilliant people that willingly drink alcohol (or even worse). Scientists, university professors, world-known writers and artists... I consider myself being quite intelligent (doing what I do) and I still like to party once in a while.

But please, by all means, stay in your imaginary land and think that everyone drinking alcohol is stupid.
I agree that guy reminds me of the religious people who hate everyone who doesnt believe exactly what they believe...Nothing wrong with having a few drinks here and there and people have been doing it and enjoying it for hundreds of years and its just about moderation like everything in life and there will always be people who abuse everything to the limits but having some drinks and a bit of fun sometimes wont affect your health,im sure eating a cheeseburger is worst for you than a few beers. Life is too short to be a judgy, preachy bore !!! Have a drink and relax.

What ever the age people are going to do it if they want to. I was going clubbing 3 times a week when I hit 14, yeah fun at the time but now my liver is in a very poor state

If anything there should be more of a threat, here you get a smack on the hand, I almost got done by the local police, Id just been out drinking (age 15) someone had smashed a window or something and I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, they asked me loads of questions 1.Age "15" 2,Where have you been? "drinking in that pub" they never even questioned it and sent me on my way. Maybe if you got comunity service for drinking under age you might not do it.

I think maybe working with people who have been effected by drink might put the teen off completely.
