Donald M. McPherson born 25 May 1922 in Adams, NE. Entered the Navy on 4 Feb 1943. Went to flight training and was commissioned an Ensign 2 Aug 1944. Then went to F-6 Hellcat training.. Later he was assigned to the USS Essex that was heading for Iwo Jima. He shot down 5 enemy aircraft and became an ACE. He flew many combat missions against Japanese targets; airfields, shipyards, and factories. After the war he returned home to work for the post office and then became a farmer..
Sent him 2 photos on 4 May and got them back signed on 18 May.. He also included two small photos of him in uniform that were also signed, plus a signed bio (one sheet) of his military service..
