I have only ever sent one letter to america, I included 2 IRCs, and to send it there u have to use air mail and my letter cost £1.79 to send

Hiya, i'm not english Im welsh, but its in britain so you can still use my answer. i used an airmail stamp and a second class stamp to send over and then i put it an IRC so they can get stamps to the UK

I usually use 3 first class stamps.

I think its about 68p to send a letter weighing up to 20g, then £1.05 for anything between 20-40g. A first class stamp is worth 29p (it might have gone up to 30p now actually), so 3 or 4 will be needed. Or just go to the POst Office, as they have all denominations of stamps and you won't be wasting any money by going over the correct amount.
