This forum used to be a great place to post, now it's full of people who know little, but MORE IMPORTANTLY, have no desire to learn. If you think a PP/SFM/generic character autograph is cool, then fair play to you, but I wouldn't expect no comments from people about that.

However commenting the usual "Awesome", "Congrats", "Amazing" to sec's, PP's, AP's and plain simple forgeries through a trade, sale, etc) doesn't help anyone on here because newbies will always believe that they can write to Johnny Depp, John Travolta, Hugh Jackman and all the other A-listers and get back an authentic autograph.
Instead a forum and a website making autographs a subject of discussion should help newbies and laypersons to built up a great collection of authentic autographs and teach them about sec's, PP's, AP's and forgeries. To withhold informations about authenticity is no help for anyone, especially not for newbies who feel betrayed when they learn after some years that most of their collection is bogus.
What doesn't help either are these nonsense comments about authenticity like "I don't know if this helps with authenticity on RDJ's auto, but on gwyneth's autograph she drew a little arrow pointing to the backside of the paper which had the little note from him." or "It must be authentic because it took two month until I received it back.". A little knowledge is a dangerous thing and this nonsense is no help for anyone.
This forum was great in its beginning from 2004 until late 2007/early 2008, but with Bieber/Kardashian/Gaga/etc. this place turned into some kind of playground. Things changes, that's only natural, so do online forums. People come and people go. Same happened with the ST forum and after 15 years on ST and 9 years paying for their service I decided to leave that place and not renew my subscription because the forum has died there as well and as an IP collector there's no benefit for me there anymore.
The problem we face here is
a) the majority of assigned moderators has been inactive for years and
b) newbies have no desire to learn from experienced collectors.
Ian (TheCollector) who used to be a great site admin is gone since early 2009, Nicole (Taxi_06) has been gone since 2008, Eugenia & Angela (loveryan) used to be excellent mods but are gone, Josephone & Joselyn (ldy josie x) are gone since 2009, so is Larisie as well as Sebastian (seb88). And still they are all marked as active moderators which is ridicolous. James and nowandagain are the only mods that I've been in touch since the beginning and who are still active and do a good job. However you can do a hell of a job, but with newbies thinking they are THE autograph expert after having received their first Travolta TTM, your efforts as a mod and experienced collector will be forever fruitless.
I could care less for a specific newbie who wants to believe his sec's are authentic signatures, but I'm caring for the rest of the young generation who might read this b*llshit and take it for granted that they will receive authentic autographs TTM from Jerry Lewis, Sarah Jessica Parker, Robert DeNiro, Matthew Broderick, John Travolta, Al Pacino, Robin Williams, Clint Eastwood, etc.
I encourage everyone, especially beginners, to use their brain and educate themself. There are dozens of books out there who are helpful for newbies, there are countless of signature studies published that will shed the light for beginners, and there's the most cheapest help anyone can get when people start using their brains and common sense. It doesn't hurt to learn from long-established and experienced collectors, but it will hurt when some day you'll find out by yourself that most of your collection is bogus because you had no desire to learn all these years. Again, education is THE key!
