steveh77uk, please don't stop sending requests because of a prank! It wasn't your fault. I agree with the45guy0, that behaviour isn't okay and no matter how annoying it is when people post fake successes (and you didn't even mean to.) it doesn't justify posting private pictures of someone.

Couldn't agree more with The45guy0...that is one step too far to go posting his pic.

As for the stamps being postmarked or not postmarked, I have found myself that means very little. I would say at least half my replies come back un marked. No clue why!

I think she needs to apologize also. This poor guy almost left the site. It could have happened to anyone.

Elizabethdodds you need to get off your high horse and apoligize....posting names and pictures of someone online in this manner borders online bullying!!No matter what the situation is..

First of all I offer my sincere apologies for the above post.
I will now go on to explain what has happened, I have been attending conventions here in the U.K for many years up until 2012 when due to health problems I was forced to stop attending.

I only found this site back in February and decided that I would start sending for autographs through the mail, It would give me something to do rather than stare at the walls all day. If you look at me previous posts you will see that I have NEVER lied about obtaining an autograph ... there's just no point.

Anyway I have sent off a large number of letters and Photo's through the mail and have had a small number of them reply, one of the ones I sent off to was Benedict Cumberbatch.

Last week I was over the moon to open a brown envelope with a signed photo inside which I promptly posted on here, the following day I noticed the messages begin to appear and slowly withdrew into myself not understanding what had happened, I now know what happened, My carer (who sends all my letters & photo's) decided that a good April Fools Joke would be to buy the autograph and get it sent to me, I would think I had been successful and then he would tell me the truth and blah blah blah ..... but it backfired, by the time he came to me on Friday I had already posted the photo and well the rest is history.

I would like the Admin to remove this post if possible and I would like to apologise to all, this should never have happened, the photo has ben given back to the gentleman who arranged this prank and I will probably stop sending out requests, if it helps then please feel free to remove my account as well, it has never been my intention to deceive anyone over an autograph.

Now to answer some questions that you will no doubt ask:

No I didn't think about the picture because as I have stated my carer handled that part for me, so I genuinely had no idea what to expect.

Yes the envelope was franked, due to the picture size that was the only way to get a picture (not that it matters now)

Elizabethdodds Thank you for delving into my photbucket account and grabbing a photo of me, my Facebook page is set to private and there is only one photo of me on my Photobucket account, the one with Sylvester McCoy and my young daughter .... there is a reason for this, I am a shy private person, I do not understand why posting an image of my face helps .... do you think people will amazingly bump into me in the street??

Anyway I have apologised and explained what happened, I'll probably just leave you all to it now ... I'll accept anything any of you want to dish out as I really can't apologise anymore, In the past week I have gone from the highs of getting a fantastic autograph to getting called liar and having my face posted somewhere I did not want to finding out it was all a prank to losing a carer who I thought was a friend.

Once again, I am very sorry for all of this.
Fair play to you. It's completely out of order that the person posted the link to your picture. I would also be very annoyed at your carer, I wouldn't find it very funny at all.

Hey fella, thanks for the update. Don't take it too personally. Over the last few months (maybe longer) there's been a spate of fakes etc on here, being passed off as real. The soul purpose of this site is to show (mainly) real sigs received in person, TTM or at conventions etc, not bought on eBay. I think people just saw the evidence (the eBay snap) and it took off from there. People have just got more angry about this type of post over the last few months. You were good enough to come back, tell your story and it's appreciated (well, from me anyway). Hope this doesn't put you off TTM'ing and posting on here - just maybe don't post anything around 1st April next time? ;)

AutographFan13 wrote:Also, sorry to bump the topic, but on the envelope the stamp isn't franked/ stamped which shows you haven't actually received the envelope. I know they miss the odd one, but its still more evidence that you're lying.
I'm not sticking up for this guy in any way at all when I say this, just wanted to chip in, but I ave had a load of letters in the last few months with no franking marks or anything on the stamps at all, it's quite bizarre. I've also had a few where they've obviously been through the franking machine and the mark is there but is nowhere near the stamp at all, really weird!

But still, that's all neither here nor there as this guy is clearly a faker, which is odd and a shame for the site when people do this!
Maybe out of 10 items I receive there is always a couple that just don't get stamped so it does happen either due to error or fault somewhere in the mailing system.
