Why don't we create a poll in the TM forum for anyone that wants to become one, like is done for TM's that want to be full mods? That way, TM's can see what Mod polls look like, which will help them, and we have a stricter criteria to become a TM.

TM=Trainee Moderator (formerly Junior)

With the ability to move posts, TM's can do and are doing everything Mods are with the exception of issuing warnings.

A perfect example of what's wrong with the system. :roll:

It seems that a few of them are not very experienced, and are pretty naive when it comes to successes. I have been collecting for over a year with a fair amount of AUTHENTIC successes, and I do not think that I am fit to be a JM. You should have a lot more knowledge than the amateurs (I don't exclude myself from that group), and I am not entirely convinced that all of them do. There should be some type requirement to be a JM.
Absolutely agree with you {thumb2}

mmm Yeah I see what you mean. I thought that you had to do a lot more to become a JM. I was surprised when all you had to do was pm Admin. Funny thing is though, is that even though I'm a JM I'm not allowed in the JM forum. haha. I don't know what up with that.
Anyway, yeah I think that you should have to do a lot more. I've gotten pm's from various JM's who've just started and they are asking me what IRC's, SASE's and VV are. It's really quite annoying since they should know these things if they are a JM.

yes i know that maybe some newbies on here have alot of experience like yourself and i respect {thumb2} that but what i meant was when you get a newbie who for instance gets a success from johnny depp and argues that its authentic even though they are a JM and are meant to know about autographs etc..
i see.

(which of most were outdated by 1 year or more when they were published)
Iv'e been collecting 34 years and I can remember them days searching for celeb and sports address books. I still have them and looking thru them it's amazing how many are now deceased. The internet definately has made it easier.

As far as the JM issue I feel it's absolutely ridiculous to just have to ask to be one. Members on this site should be looked at and if they fit the criteria then they should be asked if they would consider being a JM, MOD or whatever. Last looked theirs 69 JM's which are most of the regular active users on this site.

I'll chime in on this one,

I can certainly see where you're all comming from, and it's something that a lot of the moderators have brought up. We've been trying to propose a set of criteria for new applicants to meet, rather than just a quick PM being all that's needed.

And for anyone that doesn't know about the JMs, they can pretty much do what a moderator can....they have limited powers, I don't think they can delete or ban members, give warnings, and stuff like that, but they can move and lock topics. Basically the system is used to let the member show that they have what it takes to be a full mod down the road.
