I wrote to him because he had a guest spot in one "Robin Hood" episode. Like some people here collect autographs from [i]Doctor Who[/i] actors, I do that for RH. I've seen clips of "Emmerdale" and he's pretty good in that too.

That could be the case, that's good that he was with regards to yourself, was unaware that he did photography in his spare time, the only soap opera that's popular I would say is coronation street. The young tend to be better than the old at fanmail and respond quicker, it tends to be a guessing game when it comes to autographs and who answers what.

Maybe he's just busy and doesn't give much thought to fanmail? I don't know how popular UK soap operas are, and usually when writing to TV shows it's the leads/younger actors that get more fanmail.

We traded a couple of e-mails and he was very nice and cordial.

Congratulations, I'm still waiting to hear from him, he's not very good when it comes to fanmail. You're very lucky to even hear back.

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I sent two letters to two different addresses (one to his agent and the other via the ITV studios) and didn't get anything back. Turns out he has a site dedicated to location photography and I e-mailed him to see if he had received any of my letters. He replied back saying he hadn't but offered to send a signed photo to me. I received a 4x6 personalized color photo yesterday, and another photo with a nice note on the back.

[b]The postage and location stamp are from the ITV Leeds location, so I would suggest sending fanmail there rather than spamming his e-mail address on his photography site (not going to post a link but one can Google it).[/b]
