Well done on getting your success from Hugh Jackman. I'm an Aussie and I can tell that he has used only autopen replies for many years now. It's a shame, but I would MUCH rather have an AP than a secreterial as I consider that dishonest. Of course, the real thing is even better!
An IP is really the only way to tell if a signature is authentic or not - you have to see them sign them. For example, The Beatles used secreterials right through the 60s, so those who have a genuine autograph of the four of them would be quite rare, but there would be plenty more who think they do.
