Some time last year, I sent a letter of request and a SASE to German figure skater Katarina Witt. I was new at this, so I put US postage on the return envelope even though I mailed it to Germany.
Anyway, I figured I'd never hear back, but today I received an autographed and personalized 5x7 promo card from Ms. Witt mailed to me in my return envelope. My only guess is she (or her management) held pn to it until she came to the United States and mailed it to me once they got here (hence the one year wait). Regardless....very cool.
