I'm on LI so it was actually more of a flooding instance, and we had the power go out for a little bit. It wasn't as bad as the warnings said it would be but we've been having really bad flooding here and such, I guess since it's an island they take extra care. Quite a few years ago the entire basement of our house got flooded and it was horrible. I was also in a wreck within a flood once. Thankfully nothing was too damaged, the weather stations lost their satellite connections though over it! Which I think is crazy since those things are built to be really stable.
We had a tornado warning like last week too...
