That's a great idea for a project. I did a similar thing recently for some friends who have just got married, and they were made up with it.

Good luck with the collection!

I'm glad you all agree with me that its a bit of a crazy reply. Your correct I would of rather had no reply or a reply saying we don't sign through the mail, but to try and be 'cool and green' and use the excuse of the carbon foot print its a bit annoying, I thought the exact same about the australia I'm a celeb thing, makes no sense. it must be a pretty recent thing because I'm sure I've seen a few ant and dec replys this year with sucesses. Never mind, have lost a bit of respect for them tho. Especially since I sent them a letter explaining what I'm doing and that me and my partner have started a collection for our 1year old son so he could see who was 'famous' when he was little, making a sort of scrap book for him. Just thought I'd post what they said tho so you all new incase you were going to write to them x x

I gotta say, thats honest to god the most awful excuse I've ever heard. I guess it's understandable if wouldnt have sent it because they want $$ for the autograph or because they didnt want it ending up on ebay or something, but to reduce their carbon footprint? Thats beyond stupid...

good grief, that is the lamest excuse I have ever heard, particularly coming from Ant and Dec who annually fly to the other side of the world to present I'm a Celebrity - and if anyone tried to persuade me that that's carbon neutral I would question either their maths or their sanity.

So, just to get this straight, they'll send a letter using the same amount of paper and ink to say that they don't send out the equivalent of what they're sending?

Sorry about your failure, though, they are entertaining, but that is just such an incredibly stupid, shoddy and patronising way to treat fans. I'd rather get no response at all than that.

Would you have a scan of the envelope and picture you received please?
If so, you are in the run for the $10 gift certificate.

sent a letter to ant and dec at the end of july to the address in the database, and got a reply today (august 13th 2011) saying that they dont send out autographs anymore, they want to improve the 'carbon footprint' and there is a downloadable version of there autograph from the website :( feel a bit let down, i do hope no more celebs take up this else will really ruin the autpgraph hunting hobbie :(
