At least with NASA photos, there have been cases of a secretarial inscription on autopenned photos. Jim Irwin had a printed inscription but his signature was real - and John Glenn did something similar, where he presigned a bunch of "pumpkin suit" lithos and the inscription was added (by computer, I think.)
