Yes, an authentication machine uses pens. It's still not the person signing, just a program emulating someone signing. That's why autopen autos look to clean.

Look up autopen machine. Just because we want it to be real doesn't make it so.

The autographed photo came back from Spanky but is real as it chipped part of the silver sharpie when I dropped the corner of glass on it.
