Received Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actor and New Star of the Year – Actor for his performance in An Officer and a Gentleman (1982). His performance led him to a lead role status in the 1980s appearing the film adaptations of The Lords of Discipline (1983), Firestarter (1984) and White of the Eye (1987). He went on with supporting roles in such films as The Indian in the Cupboard (1995) and Daredevil (2003).
