People are of the Jim Carey mindset "so, you're saying there's a chance" even when it's like 1 out of a million.
They'd rather spend the money on photos, envelopes, postage on the 1 % chance something is real than not have taken the chance.
Me? I hate the fact that my early collecting days were wasted on a lot of fakes. In the early days, there weren't message boards and even the books and sites on collecting didn't really know that if something wasn't stamp/autopen or pre print that it didn't completely mean it was real. There were only a few known secretarials at the time.
