Oh that's too bad. I hadn't heard that. Where did you hear he had passed away? I see his Wikipedia bio hasn't been updated with that information yet.

Regarding Vincent's achievements let it be known he is a remarkable man. After retiring from really three full careers for any one man he continues to be a great example of what we should all attempt to replicate. He has my highest admiration as an American, but mostly as a man. Proud to consider him a friend. My life is better just by knowing the man. I wish you all the best Vince. Carey.

Vice Admiral Vincent de Poix - Born in 1916 he was a naval aviator during World War II and became the first captain of the Aircraft carrier USS enterprise in 1961. During his career he also served as commander of United States Second Fleet and as Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency from 1972 to 1974.

I sent him a photo and SASE and he returned the photo signed as well as a little note in less than two weeks.
