Do you know if there are any other guys from that era that have not been invited?

My family went on vacation to the Astrodome in 1972 to watch a Cubs/Astros series and I got Rudolph's autograph. It was the worst autograph I have ever seen, but there was a reason. He was on the DL with a broken thumb and signed it left-handed. He apologized over and over for the way it looked, but I thought it was pretty cool, and somewhere I have a photo (now 40 years ago) of him signing it.
His autograph has always been pretty bad... Good or bad hand! Super nice guy though!

A few days ago, I sent Mr. Hughes and Mr. Tom Ricketts a letter concerning Ken Rudolph of the 1969 Chicago Cubs. At a recent autograph convention, me and coachk28 met Mr. Rudolph and asked him why he's never been at the Cubs Convention. He replied saying "he's never been invited" and would "be honored to be there if he had the chance." After hearing this I couldn't help but feel sad for the guy. I decided to take action and write a few letters to people who I know would address the possibility. Pat Hughes the Master of Ceremonies. and Tom Ricketts, the president! I volunteered me and coachk28 to help Mr. Rudolph stretch jerseys, change pens, take pics for people, etc.

Sure enough, this morning I woke up and Pat Hughes called my house to speak to me about this situation. Unfortunately, I missed the call but he left a message on the answering machine. He said that he got the letter, and called what I was doing a "good deed." Saying he's glad to hear that Ken Rudolph was a "class act" as I described him when I met him. He said will pass the letter along as soon as he gets to work today, and will discuss it with Tom Ricketts. He said he doesn't have control of over who gets invited, but he's going to do his best to help me out!

Talk about a genuine guy, can't wait to see what happens!

Funny story, when I sent Pat Hughes the letter concerning Ken Rudolph, I said "I'm not writing to ask for an autograph, but for you to hear my story." Sure enough, in my SASE that came back today, I sent him if he wanted to write a response, he sent me a signed 5x7!
