You can include a piece of cardboard to keep the photo from bending in shipping and also add "Do Not Bend" on the envelopes.
Send your letter and wait. On average, there is going to be a 3+ month wait for a response.

MLB Buddy Groom SUCCESS! 2/28/19 - March 5th, 2019
Sent LOR, SASE, 93 Topps, and 02 Topps Total cards to his Red Oak, TX address on 1/22/19. Got response 2/28/19, both cards returned, signed, and included a personalized note on a 4" x 6" lined sticky note. Thanks Mr. Groom!
