1/25/2008 - Sent a letter to Hall of Famer and Legendary Basketball Coach Lou Carnesecca at:
c/o St. Johns Athletic Dept
8000 Utopia Pkwy
Jamaica NY 11439
I sent the letter 1/15/08 and received a signed floorboard with an HOF inscription back yesterday. 9 day turnaround. I was a little bit suspicious since Carnesecca retired years ago and no longer works at the University except for special functions. How did he get the letter sign and return it so fast? Plus the C in was different than most of his other signatures.
And then today by complete random chance who sits down 2 seats away from me at a lecture I was attending (I live in NYC), none other than Coach Carnesecca. Once the presentation had concluded I went up to him, shook his hand, introduced my self and thanked him for answering my letter. Not only did he remember the letter (Im sure he doesn’t get that much mail anymore) but he said that he always loves signing.
Needless to say, I no longer have any doubts.
