If you want to request an autograph, follow the guidelines bellow. If you just want to mail a letter with the address above, and do not want anything back, then you can stop reading! If you live in USA send a properly stamped and self addressed envelope (minimum size 8.5" x 4") with your request letter and a photo. You can include a piece of cardboard to keep the photo from bending in shipping and also add "Do Not Bend" on the envelopes. Send your letter and wait. On average, there is going to be a 3+ month wait for a response. If you do not live in USA, add several* International Reply Coupons. The International Reply Coupons (IRC) will be used by the receiver to purchase american stamps. You can only get them at your post office. Place the IRCs into the envelope, not on it. 11/04/2009 - Sent LOR and SASE to Maya Angelou on October 19 and recieved this copy of a poem personalised with my full name, but the autograph is a stamp. I may try again and send a picture next time |
10/29/2009 - So, I sent Maya 2 poems and a nice note telling her how I appreciated her work. About 3 weeks later, i rec'd my poems back signed...but something was off. The signatures on both sheets were Identical. I even overlapped them and looked at them through a light...identical. So I think they were stamped. Anyways, sent it to the address on the database. Not worth it if you ask me...but others have been more successful I think. Rec'd them back in my envelope. WHICH is actually the first time I've ever gotten anything back using my SASE envelope. Here they are, tell me what you think...

2/13/2008 - After my first success with her, I wrote to her again on 12/29/07, sent a book of her poems and another picture. Today, got them back signed and personalized!!
